My friend Shelly
I have a very dear friend Shelly. I have known her since I was 3. She lived in the house that was just behind mine for years and she would always jump the fence and come hang out with me. One of my most memorable moments with Shelly was the year I ran for student body treasure in 7th grade and I lost. Well Shelly was the first friend to call me that day to ask if she could come over and hang out. It was just what I needed. Someone to make me laugh and forget about loosing earlier that day. She was always the nicest friend and made you want to be with her. We continued growing up in the same ward, schools, and have remained really close. We go out to lunch with "our gang" of girls from the good ol days about 4 times a year. It is one of my favorite things to do and I look forward it every time we get together. We don't skip a beat in conversation and pick up like we where 15 years old again.
Now having said that Shelly found out just about 1 month ago that she has breast cancer. She is an amazing mother of 5 adorable and young children, a wonderful wife, and a great daughter and friend. She is now going through Chemo and then after all her treatments she will have a double mastectomy. Ever since she informed me about her diagnose she has been the most optimistic person I know. She is so positive and enduring. Instead of asking "why me?". She is asking"What can I learn from this, and who can I help while I am going through this". She is truly a person who I look up to and hope to be like one day.
She has a blog of her own where she writes all about her feelings, thoughts, and how all her doctor appointments are going. Her most recent post she mentioned how she would like to help researchers find answers to breast cancer. So down below I copied what she wrote on her blog and a way we as woman can help. If you are interested please go and register.
Shelly I love you and think you are so amazing.

Dr. Susan Love told Robin Roberts yesterday on Good Morning America that she’s trying to recruit 1,000,000 women for the Army of Women, a group of women who on a volunteer basis will be part of research efforts aimed at determining what causes breast cancer. All women are invited to participate.
Just sign up here. When you do, you’ll get an e-mail about opportunities for being involved.Love reports that about 200,000 women have signed up so far. She’s got a long way to go to hit that one-million mark. Just like we have a way to go to find that elusive cause of breast cancer. Help if you can.
